Island Lush gives us, (as the name suggests) the bountiful and luscious tropical scents of Vanuatu and New Caledonia. This fragrance transports you to a perfectly pristine beach with a rugged backdrop of sandalwood trees in the Archipelago islands. These sandalwood trees are evergreen and can grow up to nine metres high in the wild. The locals harvest the sandalwood and this has been a source of income for rural regions in Vanuatu for centuries.

In the usual style of Goldfield & Banks, Dimitri has chosen a location (if not in Australia, somewhere close to in proximity and to his heart) and used this fragrance to hero the notes of this location. As a part of the Botanical Series from the perfume line, this collection aims to honour, celebrate and showcase Australia’s reputation for sustainability and also harness new scientific developments to further support sustainability. For decades, the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) has supported research into the growing and marketing of sandalwood in Vanuatu.

This scent takes you to the treetops of Vanuatu, overlooking a vibrant sunset and encompassing all of the colours, feelings and scents you can imagine in that picturesque moment. The luxuriously warm spices of nutmeg, pepper and ginger burst open, creating a sumptuous and abundant shimmer of light on the skin. However, as the sun sets, this soon settles to a smoother, denser sandalwood fragrance. Rich, creamy, but also kind of fresh like the island air; sandalwood is partnered beautifully with orris, cedarwood, resins and leather.
